VAMONOS sur le chemin du Rocío !
Let’s head off on the road to El Rocío!
Editor l’Atelier des Brisants 2024.
A photographer and a journalist take us on a journey into the heart of rural Spain. Pierre Vidal and Bruno Lasnier invite us along on a captivating trip to El Rocío—a pilgrimage to the small Andalusian village where thousands gather every year at Pentecost.
Whether on horseback, in off-road vehicles, or on foot, and organized into Hermandades (brotherhoods), the pilgrims traverse marshes and follow sandy tracks. It is an immersive journey through a protected landscape – Doñana National Park – marked by various encounters leading up to the fervent reunion with the Virgin of El Rocío.
It is a world apart from modern life, where words like solidarity, sharing, and communion hold real meaning, independent of any religious faith. Bruno Lasnier’s photographs, accompanying Pierre Vidal’s narrative, offer an intimate look at the spirit of El Rocío.

Myriam Brun Cavanié adds a poetic touch to the images, while Guy Lesœurs reminds us that the most beautiful journey is the one yet to be taken.

Industrie du bois l’épreuve du regard
The timber industry, under scrutiny
Editor L’Atelier des Brisants 2005
A contemporary perspective on the « industrial heritage » of the timber industry in the Landes France department. Creative freedom allows for more than just raw documentation or archival record-keeping; it enables the creation and presentation of a specific viewpoint, enriching collective memory and generating meaning.
It is an encounter between images and text—seen through the eyes of photographer Bruno Lasnier and writer Didier Arnaudet—that involves a dual form of expression: the visual and the textual.
These images reflect the constraints and harshness of an industrial world, as well as the reality of the men and women who confront it daily. The approach is not intended to be documentary; the images transcend their initial thematic framework, even while drawing deep inspiration from it.
The selection and staging of the images introduce a new dimension driven by artistic intent and a poetic sensibility: they tell stories.
